Pastor Ramsey got his start in The ministry as a Youth for Christ Club Director on five high school campuses in San Diego in the 60s. During the same period, he was also actively involved as the president of the Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship organization on the campus of San Diego State University for three years. He began his Church Ministry as the Youth Pastor at First Assembly of God Church in San Diego.
After graduating from San Diego State University, he went to Fuller Seminary and Graduate School of Clinical Psychology and earned a Master's in Clinical Psychology as well as a Master's of Divinity. While at Fuller, Jim was the youth pastor at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Pasadena for two years and then Bethany Church in Alhambra until graduation. After graduation, he took a position as Associate Pastor at the Assembly of God Church in Redwood City California. During that time, he established a coffeehouse Ministry in the Bay Area through which he which ministered very effectively during The Jesus Movement.
Next, Jim moved back to San Diego and worked at Family Consultation Service for three years to earn his State License as a Marriage and Family Therapist, while at the same time pastoring Bancroft Baptist Church. After three years in San Diego, Jim was called to Copastor the First Assembly of God Church in Missoula. During that time, he established Aletheia Ministries, which included ministries to the various Missoula high school campuses and a Coffeehouse Ministry across from the University of Montana, located in the Chimney Corner Building.
After three years with the First Assembly of God Church in Missoula, which is presently called Christian Life Center. Aletheia Ministries became independent and nondenominational. In 1979, Jim established Aletheia Counseling Service, in order to minister to couples and families in Missoula community. Also, in 1979, Jim Ramsey established the first Calvary Chapel in the state of Montana which later changed its name to Calvary Community Church.
A few years later Jim established Missoula's Youth for Christ Organization by establishing and chairing it's board and calling and funding its director.Jim is gratified to see the way God has continued to bless and grow this organization to significance and influence in the Missoula community, now over 20 years later.
After serving Missoula as a Pastor and Professional Marriage and Family Therapist for over 30 years, Pastor Ramsey has developed a relevant style of ministry which will help you grow as a balanced, mature Christian, living with a sense of purpose, within fulfilling relationships.
